Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven lived in a time of great conflict between scientific understanding and faith in the unknown, known as The Age of Enlightenment. The movement inspired several world-changing events, including the American and French Revolutions.
In that spirit, the Chamber Singers offer a program of music from that revolutionary age, featuring a range of timely sacred and secular texts set by the three Viennese composers mentioned above, as well as international contemporaries Billings, Durante, Rossini, Bortniansky, Mendelssohn, Auber, Louise Reichardt and Fanny Hensel.
Tickets are $12 in advance (available from chamber members and at the Keene Toadstool bookstore) and $15 at the door. Free with student ID.
